SPECIFICATION & DESIGN
Q What is the size of the card?
The default card size is 5½×3½ inches (140mm×89mm).
Q May I submit a card in a different size?
We can only accommodate smaller sizes, and an additional fee (US$5.00/500 cards) will be required
for customized cutting.
Smaller cards are typically used by hams who need to send bundles of cards through bureaus,
which may be weight-sensitive. One of the more extreme methods is to make the images half-size,
to allow two copies on one card (If you wish to do this, please DO NOT leave a margin between
the two cards).
Please note that using a size other than the standard may make it difficult or inconvenient
for the recipient of your card to keep or sort it.
Q How can I submit a design with a nonstandard size?
You must apply your design to the standard 5½"×3½" canvas when you create your image;
otherwise, the edge of the image be seen by the system as the margin, and will be cut
by the printer there. Please ensure that your image design is in the top-left corner
of the canvas; the right and bottom margins should be blank.
Q In which formats may I submit my image?
We currently only support images in JPEG format. We strongly recommend a minimum image
resolution of 300 dots per inch (dpi).
For best results, save your JPEG images with at least 90% image quality. The dimensions
of the finished file should be 1650*1050 pixels, with the length-to-width
ratio kept constant at 5.5:3.5. Slight variations in the ratio will be compensated for
automatically by the system during cutting.
Q If I create the reverse side's design in Word, how do I submit it?
The reverse side, as with the obverse, may only be submitted in JPEG format,
so conversion from Word to JPEG format is required.
We recommend two methods to accomplish this:
SnagIt
and
PaperLessPrinter.
Both programs can be installed as virtual printers; you can print the files from Word, and use them to output a JPEG file.
Q May I submit a color image for the reverse?
Yes; however, any images for the reverse will be printed in grayscale automatically.
Q May I use photos on the reverse?
Yes. Any grayscaled JPEG file is acceptable.
Q May I leave the reverse blank?
Yes, but the price will be the same whether you print on the reverse or not.
Q May I user a laser or ink-jet printer to print QSL data on the card?
Yes. The reverse side of the card has a matte surface; any print or handwriting on it will be
difficult to fade or smudge, and the ink will dry quickly.
Q If I upload just the obverse design, will you design a custom table on the reverse side for me?
Different users have different ideas of what the card should look like, so we are unable to provide
a design service one by one. However, we do provide templates on our site to allow you to customize
it to your liking and convert it to JPEG. We also provide ready-made designs for you to choose from
and add your contact information.
If this is insufficient for your needs, we may be able to design one for you; however, this is strictly
dependent on whether we have time to do so. An extra charge may be incurred for this service.
HOW TO UTILIZE THIS WEBSITE
Q How can I send you the print material?
Step 1. Signup up with your callsign
Step 2. Login to your account and upload two JPEG files: one for the obverse(color) side,
another for the reverse(grayscale).
Step 3. Place the order by filling in the quantity and shipping info.
Step 4. Make the payment through PayPal (Credit Card is acceptable).
Step 5. Once the payment completes successfully, your order will be added into the print queue.
Q Can I signup with a name other than my callsign?
Yes, but we STRONGLY recommend that you register with your current callsign.
We use this to retrieve your information from the global QRZ database; for example, your address of record
will be quoted as your shipping address by default when you signup.
In the future, we may clear rubbish data from the database, and any non-callsign username
will be deleted without notice.
Q Can I store my QSL picture without placing a print order?
Yes; you can use this website as a digital QSL card sharing system.
Q Will my JPEG files be deleted after the print completes?
No. Pictures will be stored permanently.
Q Can I keep multiple versions of QSL picture files on the website?
Current, uploading a new image will overwrite the previous image. Capability for multiple
images may be provided in the future.
PRINT & SHIPPING
Q How is the quality of my card ensured?
We use high-quality 250g card stock, Heidelberg printers and very strict process controls
during exposing films, overprinting, and cutting.
We also take great care in solid-packing for shipment to prevent any damage in transit.
Q What do I do if my shipment is lost?
Please make the effort to ensure your package has indeed been lost, and then e-mail us.
We will reprint your cards at no cost.
Q How do I ensure my shipment has been lost?
As soon as we get your data, we will contact the local carrier branch to confirm it and
ask them to provide us a formal loss ticket.
Q What is the 'Print queue'? How can I find out the status of the queue?
Due to the print technologies we apply and saving the print cost. We need collect certain numbers of
print units to print together, so the cost of filming and overprinting cost can be distributed.
The current minimum queue size is 24 print units. As soon as the queue reaches that level,
the print orders will be processed together. You can see the queue status just below the header
of each page on the site.
